Urgent appeal after serious crash in Cornish village

Police say the man in a critical condition after a serious crash in a Cornish village is in his 50s and from Truro.

Officers have confirmed the driver suffered potentially life-threatening injuries after the collision at St Day.

His was the only vehicle involved on Vicarage Hill and the road was closed for several hours.

Anyone who saw something at around 5.30pm on Monday evening is being urged to come forward.

"Police were called at around 5.30pm on Monday 16th September following reports of a single-vehicle collision on the B3298, Vicarage Hill, St Day.

"A man in his 50s, from Truro, sustained potentially life-threatening injuries. 

"He was taken to Treliske hospital where he remains.

"Specialist officers from the Devon and Cornwall Police's Alliance Roads Policing Team attended along with a Forensic Collision Investigator and the road was closed to allow an investigation of the scene.

"Police would like to thank the public for their assistance and patience while they investigated the scene".
