'Serious' motorbike crash near the Cornwall border

Police are describing a crash just across the Cornwall border as serious.

A biker has suffered serious injuries after his motorbike was caught in the collision near Holsworthy.

Paramedics and the air ambulance have been scrambled and the man is being taken to Derriford.

A stretch of the A388 was closed in both directions first thing, but has since reopened.

"Police and ambulance were called at 5.35am today (20th September) following a collision involving a motorcycle on the A388 near Holsworthy.

"The male rider has sustained serious injuries and is being treated at the scene.

"He will be taken to Derriford Hospital. and the air ambulance is en-route.

"The A388 is closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.

"The location of incident is described as between Holsworthy and Clawton".

Devon and Cornwall Police

Inrix Traffic and Travel says it was affecting journeys between Holsworthy and Clawton, but has since cleared.

"A388 in both directions re-opened, accident cleared from Staddon Road (Holsworthy) to Clawton (Clawton).

"The accident happened around 05:35am".
