Mystery incident leaves man with 'life-changing' injuries

Police are investigating a mystery incident in a quiet Cornish town, after an injured man was found in the street.

Officers have confirmed the 65-year-old is being treated at Derriford, for injuries described as life-changing.

They were contacted by the hospital on Sunday afternoon, after locals spotted the man in Boscarra Road.

Devon and Cornwall Police are still trying to work out exactly what happened and have issued an appeal for clues.

"At around 2.15pm on Sunday 22nd September 2019, police were informed via Derriford Hospital of a man having been admitted with serious injuries.

"He had been found earlier in the day by members of the public in Boscarra Road, Torpoint.

"A 65-year-old man is currently receiving treatment at Derriford Hospital for injuries described as life-changing.

"Response officers and specialist officers from the Devon and Cornwall Police's Alliance Roads Policing Team attended, along with a Forensic Collision Investigator and Scenes of Crime Officer.

"A full investigation of the scene took place and officers are working to establish the cause of this incident.

"Police would like to thank the public for their patience while they investigated the scene".

Investigating officer are appealing for any witnesses that were in the Boscarra Road area between 9.45am and 10.10am on Sunday 22 September.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 448 22/9/19.
