Fears for people trapped inside building blaze

There were fears people could be trapped inside an outbuilding after a fire broke out in Par.

Firefighters from six Cornish towns were drafted in after an emergency call.

The fire broke out on Polmear Hill just before 4pm on Monday afternoon.

The building was found to be well alight and it was feared there might be people trapped inside.

Luckily everyone was accounted for but a gas cylinder was removed from the building.

Teams remain on the scene using hose reel jets to tackle the flames.

"At 14:20 this afternoon the Critical Control Centre received an emergency call regarding an outbuilding on fire.

"One appliance from Fowey and one from St Austell were mobilised to the incident, along with two wholetime officers.

"14:34 - Crew arrived on scene, confirmed the building was well alight and made the incident Persons Reported. A further appliance was then mobilised from Bodmin.

"14:40 - Firefighters confirmed all persons accounted for and had two Breathing Apparatus, one Hose Reel Jet, one Safety Jet in use.

"14:46 - All Breathing Apparatus is now in use on scene, along with two Hose Reel Jets. Firefighters removed one LPG cylinder from the building which they are monitoring.

"15:25 - Crews requested the assistance of two further appliances. One appliance from Mevagissey and one from Polruan were mobilised. The Welfare vehicle from St Dennis was also mobilised to the incident."
