A man's body has been found at a Cornish beauty spot.

The discovery was made at Cotehele Quay, on the banks of the River Tamar, on Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the National Trust property just before 8.30am and a cordon has been put in place.

Officers say that the family of a missing man in his 80s has been told.

They have now added that the body has been recovered and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Police and emergency services are at Cotehele Quay following the discovery of the body of a man in his 80s at around 8.25am today.

"Enquiries continue, but it is currently believed that the body is that of a local man reported missing to the police only hours earlier.

"The family of the missing man have been informed of this development, and a cordon remains in place."

They added: "The body has been recovered and we have released the scene at around 11:30am.

"This matter is not being treated as suspicious."
