Two injured after 'serious' crash in north Cornwall

Police confirm two people are injured after what was being described as a serious crash in north Cornwall.

Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a car at Pipers Pool near Launceston.

A female driver had to be cut free and was checked over by paramedics for minor injuries.

The lorry driver suffered a leg injury, but police say it is not thought to be serious.

A stretch of the A395 was closed from around 3am on Friday morning but has since reopened.

"Police were called at 2.55am today to Pipers Pool, Launceston, following reports of a collision involving a lorry and a car.

"Emergency services attended the scene where the driver of the car was reported to be trapped in the vehicle. 

"She was extracted from the vehicle and has been checked over by ambulance for minor injuries.

"The driver of the lorry has sustained a leg injury, not thought to be serious.

"The road remains closed whilst recovery takes place. 

"Motorists are asked to avoid the area where possible".
