Woman 'chased through woods' in Cornwall

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed that the case was a misunderstanding.

Police said that a man has come forward and identified himself as the suspect and explained he had been out power walking/jogging.

No offences have been committed and no further investigation required at the moment

A woman has reportedly been chased by a man through a wooded area of Cornwall.

The incident is said to have happened just after 11.30am on Thursday morning in the Lostwithiel area.

She posted on Facebook to say that when he almost caught up with her a car stopped to let her get in, and she managed to get away safely.

The suspect was described as being tall, wearing all black and being around 50-years-old.

The woman shared the post to make sure runners and dog walkers in the area are aware.

Police have confirmed that the incident has been reported to them and they are investigating.

"A woman was reportedly chased by a man in Lostwithiel this morning. 

"She made her way safely away and reported the incident to police.

"It was reported that it took place at around 11:35am.

"The local team have been made aware. They will undertake enquiries in relation to this matter."
