It has been confirmed that reports of a woman being chased through Cornish woods were a 'misunderstanding'.

The incident was said to have happened just after 11.30am last Thursday morning in the Lostwithiel area.

A woman thought she was chased by a man and posted a warning on Facebook, so other runners and dog walkers were aware.

It was reported to police who investigated the situation.

Officers have now told Pirate FM that the man was a jogger and no offences were committed.

"A man has come forward and identified himself as the suspect and explained he had been out power walking/jogging.

"No offences have been committed and no further investigation required at the moment."
