Woman found dead on a beach in west Cornwall

Coastguards confirm a woman has been found dead on a picturesque beach in west Cornwall.

The tragic discovery was made on the rocks at Perranuthnoe near Penzance on Tuesday.

Rescue teams police and paramedics were scrambled but, sadly, the casualty could not be saved.

Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team shared the awful news, saying their thoughts are with her family and friends.

"We were tasked today (Tuesday 1st October) by Falmouth Coastguard Operations Centre at the request of Devon & Cornwall Police.

"Having received a report of a female on rocks at Perranuthnoe we were requested to assist police and paramedics on scene to convey the lady from the location.

"Our flank team Porthleven Coastguard Team was also tasked to assist us in this operation. Coastguard Area Commander 'AC 11' also attended.

"Quickly on scene, the team deployed Coastguard rescue officers and equipment to enable an extrication from the location take place.

"Unfortunately paramedics confirmed on scene that the lady was deceased. 

"Once recovered and transportation arranged all units were free to return to their respective stations.

"Our thoughts and condolences go to to the family and friends of the lady".
