Track ex-Hurricane Lorenzo's path towards Cornwall

Britain braces for ex-Hurricane Lorenzo, expected to hit parts of the UK from Thursday night.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds in Cornwall.

Gusts of up to 65mph could batter the Duchy's coastline on Friday.

The dregs of the storm are set to arrive in Ireland, bringing torrential rain and gales.

What can we expect?

The yellow weather warning for strong winds in Cornwall will be in force from 4am - 4pm on Friday.

  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  • It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities are affected by spray and/or large waves

What is the forecast?

"Whilst there remains some uncertainty, a spell of strong westerly winds are expected to affect parts of southwest England and south Wales on Friday. 

"Winds will increase during Friday morning before easing from the west during the afternoon. 

"Inland gusts of 50-55 mph are possible, whilst some coastal locations may see gusts of 60-65 mph".
