A massive barn fire on the outskirts of Newquay was burning until late on Wednesday night.

At its height, firefighters from eight Cornish towns were battling the blaze at Trevemper.

The building, packed full of around 700 bales of hay, went up in flames late on Wednesday lunchtime.

Crews from Newquay, Truro, Perranporth, St Austell, St Dennis, St Columb, Launceston and Penzance were scrambled.

The incident caused long delays after a stretch of the A3075 was closed - and the smoke could be seen for miles.
