Boy who starred in Doc Martin has worldwide support

Published by Emma Carton at 8:00am 3rd October 2019.

A Cornish schoolboy is being inundated with offers to buy his artwork, that is raising money for poorly animals.

Nine-year-old Alfie Cane from Penryn, who has autism, starred in Doc Martin when he was a baby.

Whilst on set, Alfie became poorly with a rare condition that meant he had a misshapen skull and was not able to support his own head.

When he became sick, star Martin Clunes helped pay for his treatment.

The youngster, who recently met the actor to say thank you in person, is receiving a lot of support for his paintings.

Now his mum, Tilly, has revealed he has had offers from as far away as Germany, Canada and Chicago.

"We did the filming and it kind of went quiet for about five years.

"We've kept in touch with Martin through Alfie's progress.

"Everyone who contacts Alfie is either a massive fan of Doc Martin or just supporting him with his autism and the way he expresses himself through painting.

"Meeting Martin was lovely, he was lovely - he was just like he was all those years ago when we filmed.

"After we did the live filming, he came and spent 10-15 minutes with me and Alfie and my husband and we just sat and spoke about Alfie and how he is.

"I got to say thank you again for what he did - he never had to do that".

Since appearing in the show, Alfie has launched a website selling his own art work which raises money for poorly dogs.

Pirate FM first told you about the schoolboy back in September and since then, Alfie has been inundated with offers.
