Published by Emma Carton at 6:23am 4th October 2019. (Updated at 6:37am 4th October 2019)

Police have described a crash that closed the main route in and out of a Cornish peninsula as critical.

A 29-year-old driver was seriously injured at Tregony near the Roseland.

His 28-year-old female passenger escaped with minor injuries on the B3287.

Officers say their car was the only vehicle involved on Thursday afternoon.

Devon and Cornwall Police want to hear from anyone who saw something at around 2pm.

The force is especially keen to trace a family style hatchback that may have been in the area at the time.

"At 14:00 hours on Thursday 3rd October 2019, police were notified of a road traffic collision on the B3287 near Tregony, Cornwall.

"The collision involved a black Audi A3. The vehicle is believed to have been travelling towards Tregony on the B3287, near to the junction with the road to Creed, when the collision occurred.

"The driver of the Audi, a 29-year-old local male, sustained serious injuries and his 28-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries in the collision.

"Officers from the Alliance's Roads Policing Team attended the scene and commenced an investigation of the scene with officers working to establish the cause of this collision.

"Police are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision and are interested to speak with the driver and/or occupants of a white family style hatchback car that may have been on the B3287 at the time of the collision and may have seen the black Audi.

"Please telephone 101, quoting Log 398 of 3rd October 2019 or email 101@dcpolice.co.uk".
