Patient dies at mental health unit in Cornwall

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 4:01pm 4th October 2019.

It has been revealed that a patient died at a mental health unit in Cornwall, earlier this year.

The 45-year-old from St Ives passed away at Longreach in Redruth back in March.

Officers and the NHS carried out an investigation at the time.

But the initial phone call to police has recently featured in the TV show Call the Cops, and has come to the public's attention.

It has been confirmed that the man's death is not being treated as suspicious.

"A 45-year-old man originally from St Ives was found deceased in Longreach on the afternoon of Wednesday 27th March.

"His next of kin have been informed, his death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner."

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust say it is sending its condolences to the family.

"Firstly, we would like to reiterate our condolences to the family and friends of the individual concerned.

"We are working with the coroner as part of their investigation into the death and are unable to comment further until after the inquest has concluded."
