Kitchen blaze breaks out in a hotel in St Ives

Firefighters from across three towns are called out to a kitchen blaze in a hotel in St Ives.

Crews from the town, Hayle and Tolvaddon all got the shout to the three-storey building late on Saturday night.

No flames were found but the room was smoke-logged with smoldering tea towels inside.

Staff had managed to stop the fire from spreading and fire crews ventilated the property.

A fire investigation is now going to be carried out. 

"Shout 11.55pm, backed up by are colleagues from Hayle CFRS and Tolvaddon CFRS were sent to a fire in a hotel in the town on arrival crews found the kitchen area smoke logged, two teams wearing breathing apparatus entered & found no fire only smouldering tea towels.

"Quick thinking by staff stopped this incident escalating. crews ventilated the property helped with clean up and gave general advice. Now back at home station. Thanks to St Just CFRS for covering the town while we were at this incident."

"Three appliances attended this incident along with a FDS Officer, the appliances in attendance were from St Ives, Hayle and Tolvaddon.

"The fire was on the ground floor of a three-storey building which was heavily smoke logged. 

"Crews checked the building using breathing apparatus and quickly confirmed the fire was out. 

"The FDS Officer carried out an initial Fire Investigation which will be continued in the morning."
