Pedestrian seriously injured after crash in Launceston

A pedestrian is believed to have suffered serious injuries after a crash in Launceston.

Emergency services are on the scene at St Thomas Road.

The crash was reported at around midday and the road is closed.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area as the closures are expected to be in place for some time.

"Emergency services are at St Thomas Road in Launceston following a collision believe to involve a pedestrian at around midday.

"At this time we believe one person has sustained serious injuries and closures are in place in the area.

"We ask that road users avoid the area as closures will be in place for a considerable time."

Devon and Cornwall Police

Traffic is reportedly queuing in the area on the A388.

"A388 St Thomas Road in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to serious accident between Wooda Lane and Dockey.

"The road is expected to remain closed for some time."
