'Red deer' spotted in the middle of St Ives street

This is the moment what is believed to be a red deer was spotted in the middle of the street in St Ives.

Christine Lees stopped to film the moment on Trelawney Road.

The curious creature was caught in her headlights on Tuesday night.

It can be seen twitching its ears and trotting towards the car, but did not seem fazed!

Posting in The Real Love St Ives Facebook group, Christine seeing the "beautiful creature" as a total shock.

Hundreds of people commented on the post.

Although rare, some locals say they have spotted deers in the Carbis Bay area before.

Hayley-Lou said: "Looks like a red deer too as it's quite big".

Rachael commented: "Literally..."Like a deer caught in the headlights". What a magnificent creature. So hope it got safely home to it's herd".

Donna added: "I've seen pictures of a deer on the Stennack before - he's a beauty".
