String of 'super busy' days at A&E at Treliske

Published by the Pirate FM News Team at 7:28am 18th October 2019.

Cornwall's biggest hospital issues a warning after a string of busy days at A and E.

Treliske says the number of patients turning up at casualty has risen since Sunday.

At one point on Friday morning, the average waiting time had reached almost three hours.

Locals are being urged to use services like minor injuries unless it is an emergency.

You can check the live waiting times for all hospitals in the Duchy here.

The first appeal was posted on Sunday night, describing the emergency department as "very busy".

Posting on its Facebook page on Thursday, the Royal Cornwall Hospitals' Trust shared this plea:

"It's a busy day for our Emergency Department Team.

"Help them concentrate on people with serious and life-threatening conditions.

"If you're got a minor injury or illness, pop along to your nearest minor injury unit, pharmacy or make an appointment to see your GP".
