Young biker airlifted after serious injury crash

A young biker has been airlifted to hospital after a serious crash just off Cornwall's A30.

Police have confirmed the rider, who is in his 30s, suffered a serious leg injury near Smokey Joes at Scorrier.

The man was flown to Derriford after his motorbike and a car collided on the Blackwater bypass.

The road was closed for several hours after it happened on Sunday morning.

Anyone who saw something just before 10am is being urged to contact Devon and Cornwall Police.

"Police and ambulance were called at 9.50am on Sunday 20th October following a collision between a Toyota Avensis and a Kawasaki motorcycle between Scorrier and Blackwater.

"The male motorcyclist, in his 30s, sustained a serious leg injury and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

"The female driver of the car was not injured.

"The road was closed and reopened at 12.40pm.

"Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact them via 101@dc.police.uk or by phone on 101, quoting log number 305 of 20/10/19".
