Young girl injured after crash with car in Redruth

An 11-year-old girl has been seriously injured after a crash with a car in Redruth.

The young pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after being in collision with a vehicle.

It happened at around 1pm on Monday lunchtime on Falmouth Road, near the viaduct, and the stretch was shut for two hours.

Paramedics and officers were called to the scene.

"Police were called at 1pm today [21 October] following reports of a collision between a car and an 11-year-old girl on the junction between Falmouth Road and Treruffe Hill, Redruth. 

"Ambulance also attended the scene and the girl has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. 

"The section of road between Farnham Hill and Treruffle Hill, along with the top end of Falmouth Road, was closed as emergency services attended the scene.  

"The road was reopened at 3.05pm."

Devon and Cornwall Police

The road is closed in both directions and there is queuing traffic in the area.

"We were called at 12:49 to reports of a road traffic collision, reportedly involving a car and a pedestrian.

"We have attended with an ambulance and a four wheel drive ambulance. 

"One patient has been taken to hospital for further treatment."
