Man airlifted to hospital after being injured by firework

A man has been airlifted to hospital after reportedly being injured by a firework in Cornwall.

It happened near Mullion, on the Lizard, on Sunday evening.

A coastguard team, paramedics and the rescue helicopter were all called to the scene at around 8pm.

The casualty was then taken to Derriford in Plymouth.

"At 8pm last night (20th October) HM Coastguard was asked for help at Mullion where a man was reported to have injured himself with a firework.  

"The Coastguard Rescue Team from Mullion was sent to prepare a landing site for the search and rescue helicopter from Newquay which airlifted him to Derriford, Plymouth. 

"South West Ambulance Service was also on the scene."

"Team paged 20.03 to provide a Helicopter Landing Site in Mullion for our Coastguard Rescue Helicopter who was called to take a casualty to Derriford Hospital."
