"I got the news that my friend from school was in a car crash and her family was really struggling.

"She's had a lot of injuries, including a few broken ribs and a collapsed lung; I'm worrying each night.

"I just saw her the second day and I just clicked with her. Since then we've been hanging out every day.

"I just hope my money honey helps but I also hope she's OK because I'm just worrying".

A Crowdfunder, set up to support Alexis' family, has managed to raise £2,500 in a matter of days.

Donations have now been turned off, as friends say there is enough money.

Posting on the Go Fund Me page on Friday, organiser Kirstie Hitchen thanked everyone for their support.

"I would like to thank all of the people who have come together and donated.

"I have turned off the donations as the amount we have achieved is more than enough to help this family.

"Alexis is hoping to journey down to her local hospital within a day or so.

"She has had two operations in Bristol which have been a success.

"The parents will keep you all posted via social media - thank-you for all your kind donations".

At the time, police launched an appeal for anyone with dashcam footage, or who saw what happened, to come forward.

"The incident happened on the B3300 Falmouth Road, near to the junction with Treruffe Hill, at around 1pm.

"The ambulance service also attended the scene.

"The local girl suffered potentially life-changing injuries and was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske for treatment.

"Overnight, the girl, and her father, were flown by Coastguard Helicopter to Bristol Royal Infirmary.

"She remains there at this time receiving specialist care and treatment. Her condition is described as stable and her injuries are still being treated as life changing.

"Local police officers and specialists from the Roads Policing Team attended the scene, closed the road and launched a full forensic examination.

"Police have asked witnesses or anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward, unless they have already been in contact with officers at the scene".
