Alleged firearms incident in centre of Falmouth

Police have swooped on a street Falmouth during an alleged firearms incident.

Officers seized several items from a car after a stop and search on Arwenack Street.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of firearms and drug offences on Sunday evening.

One is an 18-year-old from the town - the other a 23-year-old man from Penzance.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that both were still in custody on Monday.

"Police stopped a vehicle on Arwenack Street, Falmouth, at 5.30pm on Sunday 27 October.

"Officers attended to search the vehicle and seized a number of items.

"A 23-year-old man from Penzance was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled Class B drug.

"An 18-year-old from Falmouth was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a controlled Class B drug.

"They both remain in police custody at this time".
