Group caught out by storm waves in Cornwall

This is the moment a group of apparent storm watchers were caught out by huge waves in Cornwall.

The surf was crashing over the harbour wall at Porthleven over the weekend.

Locals shared the photo to social media as a warning.

There are reports one of the group was warned about taking children too close to the edge.

Bob Sinclair posted the picture to the Porthleven group on Facebook, with an eye-roll emoji.

It sparked dozens of comments, branding the group as "silly fools" and even "idiots".

Dan commented: "I was there. Not that big a deal. You known your own capabilities... they said.

"I had to tell someone to go back as they thought it'd be a good idea to take their kid. Tut tut".

Helen added: "I was born in Porthleven. Even we wouldn't do that. How stupid. Then if anything happened they are risking other people's lives to save them".

Karen posted: "Not only are they putting themselves at risk but also the people who will have to save them if they get into difficulties".

Peter said: "They obviously have no respect for the sea and what an incredible force it actually is".
