Young driver dies after crash near St Austell

Cornwall's roads have claimed another life.

A young driver has died after two cars collided near St Austell.

The 28-year-old man lost his life at the scene between High Street and Foxhole.

A 43-year-old woman was rushed to hospital on Tuesday night.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were scrambled to the B3279 and the road was closed for several hours.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw something, just after 8.15pm, to come forward.

"At 8.18pm on Tuesday 29th October 2019, Devon and Cornwall Police were notified of a road traffic incident on the B3279, Carpalla Road, Foxhole.

"The incident was attended by personnel from the police, ambulance and fire and rescue services. 

"Despite efforts made by all, a 28 year-old male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

"A 43 year-old female driver was conveyed by South Western Ambulance Service to Treliske emergency department, where further medical intervention was sought.

"Officers from the Bodmin Serious Collision Investigations Unit are appealing for witnesses to come forward, quoting log number 0745 of 29/10/19.

"Police would like to thank members of the public for their patience during the scene closure".
