Fatal crash near St Austell sparks urgent appeal

Witnesses are being urged to come forward after a fatal crash near St Austell.

A young driver lost his life after a car and van collided between High Street and Foxhole.

The 28-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene on the B3279 on Tuesday night.

Police have confirmed a woman, rushed to hospital, was 43-years-old and from the local area.

The collision happened just after 8.15pm, closing a stretch of the road for several hours.

"A 28-year-old man has died following a collision on the B3279 on Carpalla Road in Foxhole at around 8.20pm last night, Tuesday 29th October.

"Police were notified of the incident which involved two vehicles; a Mitsibushi Lancia and a Ford Transit.

"Both ambulance services and fire and rescue services attended the scene. 

"Despite efforts made by all, the male driver of the Mitsibushi was pronounced deceased at the scene. His family have been informed.

"The transit driver, 43-year-old local woman, was conveyed by South Western Ambulance Service to Treliske Hospital where further medical intervention was sought.

"Officers from the Bodmin Serious Collision Investigations Unit are appealing for witnesses to come forward quoting log number 745 of 29/10/19.

"Police would like to thank members of the public for their patience during the scene closure".
