The calls to police in Cornwall and Devon about ghosts

Published by the Pirate FM News Team at 7:19am 31st October 2019.

On Halloween, it is revealed police in Cornwall and Devon are getting calls about ghosts.

New figures show the force receives around 20 reports a year of paranormal activity.

Officers insist they only rush to the scene if someone is in danger - or they suspect a crime.

22 calls were taken about ghosts across the south-west in 2017.

A year later, in the less spooky 2018, the number had fallen to 17.

But officers say the numbers should not be taken as "indicative of the supernatural or paranormal."

"Police would not attend an incident for the report of paranormal activity.

"An officer will however attend if there is concern for the welfare for either the caller or another individual or where there is reason to believe an offence may have occurred.

"A lot of the incidents involved individuals with mental health issues and are therefore not indicative of the supernatural or paranormal".
