NEW weather warning for Devon and Cornwall

Published by Emma Carton at 3:02pm 31st October 2019. (Updated at 3:11pm 31st October 2019)

Another severe weather warning has gone out for Cornwall and Devon.

The Met Office says torrential rain could hit some parts of the region this weekend.

The yellow alert covers areas around Bude and Holsworthy - and will be in force from 6am until 10pm on Saturday.

Forecasters say there is the risk of flooding and travel disruption on the roads and trains.

What can we expect?

  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
  • Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
  • Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads
  • There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses

What is the forecast?

"A spell of heavy rain is expected to develop across western parts of England and Wales, becoming slow-moving in some areas.

"There is a lot of uncertainty in where the rain becomes prolonged but some locations are likely to see 15-25mm during the day with isolated totals of 40-60mm possible over higher ground in particular.

"Rain is expected to ease through the course of Saturday night".
