A huge fire breaks out in a garden in Perranporth, sparking a string of 999 calls.

The flames spread to a domestic oil tank on Tywarnhayle Road on Thursday evening.

Crews from the town called in back-up from Newquay, but there are no reports of any injuries.

At one point, the Environment Agency had to be scrambled because of the nature of the foam being used to fight the fire.

"Critical Control received multiple 999 calls reporting a fire in the garden of a property.

"Initially one appliance from Perranporth Community Fire Station was mobilised.

"On arrival, the Incident Commander made an initial assessment and sent the "Make Pumps 2" to Critical Control, who immediately mobilised an additional appliance from Newquay Community Fire Station to the incident.

"The fire had spread to a domestic oil tank which had become fully involved in fire.

"Crews used one hose reel jet, one main jet and one foam branch to extinguish the fire.

"The Environment Agency were also notified of the incident due to the nature of the fire and the use of firefighting foam".
