Fatal stabbing sparks an appeal in Cornwall and Devon

A fatal stabbing up country is sparking an appeal in Cornwall and Devon.

It is two years since Adam Ellison died after a fight on Merseyside.

He was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the neck.

The 29-year-old died a few days later but, to date, no-one has been charged.

Now detectives believe that a motorbike used in the attack was stolen or sold-on in our region.

Police investigating the unsolved murder of a young man on Merseyside think a motorbike used in the attack may have come from Cornwall or Devon

Detective Chief Inspector John Middleton from Merseyside Police says stickers on the green and white Kawasaki KX85 Big Wheel are unique to a garage in Plymouth.

"We believe the bike may have been stolen or sold-on from somewhere in the Devon and Cornwall area in the time leading up to the murder of Adam Ellison in October 2017.

"I would ask people to take a close look at the bike to see if they recognise it or know of anyone who owned one and sold it or had one stolen prior to October 2017.

"We believe that tracing the movements of the bike is a vital part of our investigation and any little bit of information could be significant".

Adam's family have released more photos taken on the night of his death, as they urge anyone with information to come forward.

"This was a senseless assault which brutally cut short the life of an innocent young man who had everything to look forward to. His family have been left devastated by their loss and they still have no answers to why this horrific incident took place.

“But I want those responsible to be under no illusion. We have not given up. They will always be looking over their shoulder because we will not stop until we catch them and bring them to justice.

“People like this do not deserve to walk the streets of Merseyside and I would appeal to the right-minded people in our communities to help us to put them behind bars where they belong.

“We know that over time people’s loyalties change. I need to hear from anyone who can help us identify the people on the motorbike that night, anyone who was in Prescot town centre that night who hasn’t already come forward or anyone who has any information which could help our investigation".

Detective Chief Inspector John Middleton

Two 17-year-old males and a 22-year-old man, all from Huyton, were arrested in September 2019 in connection with Adam’s murder.

All have been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Anyone who has any information which could assist the investigation is asked to contact Merseyside Police via Twitter @MerPolCC or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
