A30 overtake dubbed 'worst seen' by police team

Published by Emma Carton at 7:24am 6th November 2019.

Dashcam footage shows the moment a car narrowly missed a van, overtaking on the A30 in Cornwall.

Police confirmed the manoeuvre happened heading towards Lanivet on Halloween.

They have described the incident as one of the worst they have seen through Operation Snap.

OpSnap is a secure online portal which members of the public can use to upload video or photos of traffic incidents.

It is part of a bid to help officers clamp down on problems like dangerous overtakes and people running red lights.

This is the moment the car started to overtake...

The Operation Snap team for Cornwall and Devon posted the footage on social media, as a warning to other drivers

"One of the worst #OpSnap entries we've seen.

"Overtake completed on a bend contravening double white lines & only narrowly avoiding oncoming traffic.

"Vehicle then speeds away and overtakes another car with traffic approaching.

"Driver can expect court action".

They added: "We will send a Notice of Intended Prosecution to the registered keeper. They then have 28 days to reply and tell us who was driving. We will then take the nominated driver to court.

"If they fail to answer the notice then this is also an offence which will result in court".
