Investigation starts into bungalow fire in Camborne

It has emerged a huge fire on a housing estate in Camborne took almost five hours to put out.

An investigation is starting after the blaze broke out in a bungalow at Penware Parc.

A woman was taken to hospital for breathing in smoke on Tuesday morning.

At one point it was so thick, the plumes were streaming into nearby properties.

Firefighters from Tolvaddon, Truro, Falmouth, Penzance and St Just were scrambled, just after 10am.

Paramedics were also called, along with police - who confirmed one casualty was taken to hospital.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service say the fire was out by 3pm on Tuesday.

"At 10:08, the Critical Control Centre received a total of five emergency calls informing them of a fire at a residential dwelling at Penware Parc, Camborne.

"Initially, two appliances from Tolvaddon were mobilised, along with a whole time officer for support.

"On arrival at the scene, an appliance from Tolvaddon reported the building as 'well alight' and requested a further appliance be mobilised. 

"Following this, an appliance from Truro was mobilised. Shortly after, further assistance was requested and an appliance from Penzance was mobilised".

They later added: The fire is now confirmed out and all appliances have left the scene. 

"A fire investigation is being undertaken to ascertain the cause of the fire".
