Safety checks after landslide right in front of house

Urgent safety checks are being carried out at a house in Bodmin, after torrential rain triggered a landslide.

A wall, right in front of a property, collapsed into the road during the downpours on Saturday.

Castle Street has been cordoned off ever since, as inspections take place.

Cornwall Council has confirmed its teams are working with the owner, to make sure the building is made safe.

"The Cormac highways team attended the site and closed the road on Saturday. 

"Cornwall Council Building Services team are working with the property owner to make sure the property is made safe as soon as possible".

Inrix Traffic and Travel says Castle Street in Bodmin remains closed in both directions.

"Castle Street in both directions closed due to landslip between Cross Lane and Old Callywith Road.

"Road remains closed since Saturday 2nd following a landslip caused by heavy rain in the area. 

"Work is ongoing to a property along this stretch to make sure it is structurally stable".
