Cornwall at risk of wintry showers for next 24hrs

Published by the Pirate FM News Team at 2:58pm 7th November 2019. (Updated at 4:59pm 7th November 2019)

The Met Office says there is the risk of more wintry showers across Cornwall for the next 24hrs.

The gritters are going out across the Duchy on Thursday night, for the first time this winter.

The A30 has already been hit by a freak hail storm and now road temperatures could fall to zero.

Forecasters say the weather is turning much colder and will remain unsettled into Friday.

"For the next few hours we're still at risk of seeing some heavier showers.

"It's going to be the heavier showers where we're at risk of seeing some hail showers form.

"If you're out for the next few hours across the evening rush-hour, just allow a little bit of extra time because even the rain can be problematic.

"As we go into tomorrow morning there will be a patchy frost around.

"It's not going to be wonderfully widespread but sometimes that may also lead to its own problems because it may be fine on one part of your journey but down the road it may be quite slippery.

"This is the beginning of the winter season".

Met Office Forecaster, Craig Snell
