Ongoing 'police incident' at Tamar Bridge

Police have released more details about an incident on the Tamar Bridge.

Officers were called to the A38 amid concerns for a woman's welfare.

It happened in the middle of Friday morning's rush-hour, but she was brought back to safety.

The incident sparked delays on both sides of the bridge but traffic is understood to be clearing.

"Queueing traffic due to an earlier police incident on the A38 Tamar Bridge westbound at Pemros Road. Congestion to Weston Mill.

"Lane one (of two) was closed passing the toll booths for an incident".

Inrix Traffic and Travel

Inrix was also reporting delays on the Cornwall side of the bridge. with tailbacks to the Carkeel roundabout.

"Very slow traffic on the A38 eastbound on the Tamar Bridge. Congestion to the Carklee Roundabout.

"Delays as traffic approaches the bridge, caused by the earlier police incident on the westbound side".

Inrix Traffic and Travel

The incident was affecting some bus services too, but has since cleared.
