Police update on homicide inquiry in Plymouth

A man has been re-arrested during a homicide investigation in Plymouth.

Police were called to reports of violence outside a pub on Market Way.

A man in his 50s was rushed to hospital last week, but later died.

Anyone who saw something, just before 7.30pm last Tuesday, is being urged to come forward.

A 34-year-old local man was questioned on suspicion of manslaughter and released on bail.

At the time of the incident, Devon and Cornwall Police issued the following appeal for clues.

"A man has died following an incident in Market Way, Plymouth, on the evening of Tuesday November 5th.

"Police were called to a report of GBH outside of a pub at around 7.20pm.

"Officers attended the scene along with ambulance staff.

"A man in his 50s was taken to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries. 

"Sadly, the man died from his injuries in the early hours of this morning (Thursday 7th November). His next of kin have been informed.

"Police are investigating a homicide and have issued an appeal for witnesses, or anyone with information, to come forward".

"A 34-year-old man from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of GBH and has been released under police investigation as enquires continue".

The man has since been re-arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and released on bail until February.
