Three people arrested after police chase near Redruth

Three people have been arrested after a police chase near Redruth.

Officers tried to stop a 'suspicious' vehicle near Scorrier on Monday, which had been stolen from Camborne back in the summer.

The car failed to stop until narrowly missing a head-on crash with another vehicle on a roundabout on the A3047.

It then reversed into a police car.

Two people were detained and a third fled the scene before officers of foot managed to stop them near the Plume of Feathers pub.

The road was closed at around 2.45pm then was reopened at 4pm.

"Police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the Scorrier area around 2.45pm yesterday [11th November].

"The Ford Fiesta failed to stop for police and was followed onto the roundabout at Scorrier Industrial Estate [A3047]. The car was on the wrong side of the road and came to a stop after narrowly missing a head-on collision with another vehicle. 

"The driver then reversed into the police patrol car causing damage.

"Two occupants - a man and a woman - were detained at the scene while another man fled the vehicle. He was quickly detained by the Plume of Feathers pub following a foot chase by officers.

"The car had been stolen during a burglary at a property in Camborne in August."

Three people were arrested and all remain in custody.

"A 21-year-old man from Newquay was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police.

"A 21-year-old woman from Newquay was arrested on suspicion of burglary and failing to stop for police.

"A 23-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police

"They all remain in custody."
