This is often seen as the start of Christmas for some of us and now the John Lewis Christmas advert is FINALLY here.

Excitable Edgar features Edgar the dragon, whose accidental fire-breathing almost ruins Christmas in a medieval village.

It tells the story of a little girl called Ava and her developing friendship with the cute, but calamitous, creature.

Edgar tries to hide himself away when his accidental fire-breathing causes comical catastrophes.

They include melting an ice rink and reducing a poor snowman to a puddle.

However Ava saves the day when she gives him a job lighting the Christmas pudding!

The 2019 advert is John Lewis's first joint-effort with its sister retailer, Waitrose, and you can watch it below!

Posting the video on its YouTube page on Thursday morning, John Lewis said it is all about the "magic of friendship" and how no-one should be left out, especially at Christmas.

"Our story this year is all about the magic of friendship and how one thoughtful gesture can make all the difference.

"Edgar’s excitement around the festive season can often lead to fiery consequences, but Ava sparks an idea for the perfect present to help him light up Christmas in his own special way".

The advert's soundtrack is a cover of REO Speedwagon’s classic Can’t Fight This Feeling.

It is performed by Dan Smith from Bastille and the track is set to be released next week!
