Fire breaks out in harbour town in Cornwall

A casualty has been pulled to safety after a fire in a Cornish harbour town.

Firefighters rushed to reports of people trapped inside a property at Porthleven.

Crews arrived at the scene on Wednesday night to find the building full of smoke.

They have since confirmed that one resident had to be treated by paramedics.

"Critical Control received a 999 emergency call to a property fire where persons were reported as still in the property.

"A fire appliance from Helston and two appliances from Tolvaddon Community Fire Stations, supported with a wholetime officer were mobilised to the incident.

"On arrival they found the property was smoked logged. 

"Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a safety jet rescued one casualty from the property.

"The casualty was left in the care of the ambulance service".
