Incident on board boat at Newlyn Harbour

Emergency services have been at the scene of an incident on a boat at Newlyn Harbour.

Police, the Coastguard, paramedics and firefighters were called to concerns for a person's welfare on board a vessel.

Officers have since confirmed that, tragically, a man has died and his family have been informed. 

"Police have been called to The Strand by the fire service after concern was raised for the welfare of a person on board a vessel at Newlyn Harbour. 

"Emergency services are currently on the scene and the incident is ongoing".

Devon and Cornwall Police

Penzance Coastguard Rescue team was also sent to the scene, after a call from paramedics and firefighters.

"At approximately 3.50pm today HM Coastguard received a request for assistance from South West Ambulance Service and Cornwall Fire Service to an incident in Newlyn Harbour.  

"Penzance Coastguard Rescue team was sent to assist".
