Firefighters spend the night battling a blaze at a Cornish holiday park.

The flames tore through a static caravan at Praa Sands on Sunday night.

Crews from Penzance called in back-up from St Just, amid fears of people inside.

However it was later confirmed that everyone was accounted for.

At one point, firefighters were shuttling water from a nearby hydrant.

The fire was understood to be out at around 11.30pm and there are no reports of any injuries.

"At 2055hrs the Critical Control Centre received a number of 999 calls from the public reporting a large fire in Praa Sands.

"The callers reported a static caravan was on fire.

"Two appliances from Penzance and a duty officer were immediately mobilized.

"On arrival it was not clear if the occupants of the caravan were accounted for and an appliance from St Just was mobilized to support the incident.

"Quickly after arrival crews were able to confirm all persons were accounted for.

"Crews reported one static caravan was on fire.

"They were using a main jet and a hose reel jet were being used to tackle the fire and protect nearby caravans.

"At 2210hrs appliances were shuttling water from a nearby hydrant to supply the fire fighting effort.

"Update at 23:30hr: Breathing apparatus crews have withdrawn and the fire is believed to be extinguished. An appliance remains at the scene to monitor for hotspots".
