School coach crash: Driver in critical condition

A driver and two children have been injured after a school coach crashed in Cornwall.

It was reported that the vehicle crashed into a wall in Tregony on Monday morning.

The driver, a man in his 70s, was airlifted to Treliske hospital and remains in a critical condition.

Two children who were on the bus suffered minor injuries and were checked over by paramedics at the scene .

The road was closed in both directions for hours but officials have confirmed that it has now reopened. 

"Police were called at 8.30am to Tregony following reports of a collision involving a coach carrying secondary school children. It was reported that the coach had been in collision with a wall.

"Emergency services attended the scene and closed the road.

"The driver, a man in his 70s, was airlifted to Treliske hospital in a critical condition

"Two children, who were on the bus, sustained minor injuries and were checked over by ambulance at the scene.

"A replacement bus attended and took the children from the scene.

"Recovery are on scene at the moment to remove the coach and the road remains closed."

"South Western Ambulance Service was called at 8.26am to attend a collision involving a coach on the A3078 at Tregony. 

"We sent the following resources to the incident: three senior paramedics, a land ambulance crew, and an air ambulance crew. 

"Our crews treated an adult male patient at the scene, and conveyed him to hospital by air ambulance for further care. 

"They also treated a child patient at the scene."
