A headteacher praises the pupils who called 999 after a serious coach crash in Cornwall.

Their school bus hit a garden wall on the A3078 near Tregony, closing the road for hours.

A driver in his 70s was airlifted to Treliske Hospital first thing on Monday morning.

On Monday afternoon, police confirmed the man was in a critical condition.

Two children suffered minor injuries and were checked over by paramedics at the scene.

"We're so proud of the students".

Speaking to ITV News Westcountry, headteacher of the Roseland Academy, Chris Challis, praised his students' response.

"We're so proud of the students. Obviously the ones involved in the actual coach - they were amazing.

"They were the ones who originally phoned the emergency services, got themselves off the bus and called for help.

"The older ones took the younger ones and they went into one of the houses nearby, where they were looked after.

"Their response and how they acted was unbelievable".

Roseland Academy Headteacher, Chris Challis

"Emergency services attended the scene and closed the road.

"The driver, a man in his 70s, was airlifted to Treliske hospital in a critical condition.
