More details emerge after body pulled from Truro river

Police believe a man whose body was found in a Truro river was in his 50s and from Penryn.

Emergency services were called following reports of a body in the water near Malpas on Monday morning.

Officers, the coastguard, paramedics and firefighters all got the shout just after 11am.

A man was pulled from the river but sadly he could not be saved.

Formal identification has not yet taken place but the man is believed to be from the Penryn area and in his 50s.

Police are now trying to work out exactly what happened but the death is not thought to be suspicious in any way.

"Formal identification is yet to be carried out but the man is believed to be in his 50s and from Penryn.

"Police are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death but it is not believed suspicious."
