ANOTHER torrential rain warning out for Cornwall

Another day - yet another torrential rain warning for the whole of Cornwall.

The Met Office yellow alert will be in force from Friday lunchtime until Saturday evening.

Forecasters say we can expect flash flooding on the roads, travel disruption and possible power cuts.

What can we expect?

  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
  • Some interruption to power supplies and other services likely

Flood alerts are also in force for the West Cornwall Rivers and River Lynher, after days of downpours.

What is the forecast?

"Showers on Friday morning will be replaced by more persistent rain during the afternoon and evening. 

"The rain will be heavy at times, lasting through much of Friday night and Saturday morning before slowly dying out during Saturday afternoon. 

"20 to 30mm is likely to fall quite widely and 40 to 50 mm may accumulate in a few places, most likely across the higher ground of south Devon".
