A car has reportedly gone the wrong way around a roundabout and hit a road sign in a serious crash in Penzance.

It was initially reported the vehicle had collided with a tree in the Heamoor area, but it is now believed it hit a road sign.

Police had said the collision on Roscadghill Road was serious and an air ambulance is being called to the scene.

Officers have since confirmed that a woman has died and a man has suffered serious injuries.
