Police confirm crash on Penzance roundabout was fatal

Police have confirmed a woman has died after a crash on a roundabout in Penzance.

A man was airlifted to Derriford with serious injuries after the collision in the Heamoor area.

The vehicle was reportedly travelling the wrong way and hit a sign on Sunday lunchtime.

Firefighters, paramedics and the air ambulance were also scrambled to Roscadghill Road at around 12pm.

At the time of the incident, Devon and Cornwall Police told Pirate FM the collision was serious.

"Police received a call at midday about a single-vehicle collision, where a vehicle had gone the wrong way on a roundabout.

"It then collided with a metal road sign.

"It is a serious collision and the air ambulance is on route to the scene".

The Force Incident Manager has since confirmed a woman in her late 60s has died.

Her husband remains at Derriford hospital with serious injuries and their next of kin have been informed.

Emergency services remained at the scene throughout Sunday afternoon and an investigation is underway.
