Police appeal after that fatal crash in Penzance

Police have launched an appeal for dashcam footage after a fatal crash in west Cornwall.

A 67-year-old woman died after a car hit a tree and a fence just off a main roundabout in Penzance.

A 68-year-old man was airlifted to Derriford with serious injuries.

Officers had reports of a vehicle travelling the wrong way before the collision in the Heamoor area.

Firefighters, paramedics and the air ambulance were also scrambled to Roscadghill Road.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw something at around 12pm on Sunday to come forward.

"Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in Penzance in which one woman died and a man was injured.

"Emergency services were called around noon yesterday (24th November) after a collision involving a Jaguar F-PACE on Roscadghill Road.

"The car was in collision with a tree and wooden fencing by the side of the road.  

"The passenger, a 67-year-old woman from the Penwith area, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The driver, a 68-year-old man also from the Penwith area, sustained head injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

"The road was closed for seven hours and 45 minutes while police carried out an examination of the scene and the vehicle was recovered.

"Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for witnesses.

"Officers are particularly keen to speak to any drivers who may have captured this incident on dashcam footage".
