Two young men injured in 'serious assault' in Newquay

Police have launched an appeal after what they are describing as a serious assault in Newquay.

They say two men were attacked on Bank Street in the early hours of Sunday.

One of the victims, an 18-year-old from St Austell, suffered a broken ankle.

The other, a 20-year-old who is also from St Austell, suffered injuries to his face and chest.

The offenders fled the scene and it is understood officers have identified two men they want to speak to.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw something between 3am and 3.30am to come forward.

"Police are investigating a serious assault in Newquay in the early hours of Sunday 17 November.

"Two men were assaulted by a group of men on Bank Street between 3am and 3.30am.

"The offenders then ran off.

"One victim, aged 18 and from St Austell, sustained a broken ankle.

"The second, aged 20 and also from St Austell, sustained facial and chest injuries.

"Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them via 101@dc.police.uk or by phone on 101, quoting crime reference CR/103758/19".
