Cornish schoolboy donates £100 to help poorly animals

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 7:00am 30th November 2019.

A Cornish schoolboy has donated all the money he has made from his own artwork to help poorly animals.

Nine-year-old Alfie Cane from Penryn, who has autism, starred in Doc Martin when he was a baby.

Whilst on set, Alfie became poorly with a rare condition that meant he had a misshapen skull and was not able to support his own head.

When he became sick, star Martin Clunes helped pay for his treatment. Alfie met the actor back in September to say thank you in person.

The youngster decided he wants to help others in need, and he creates paintings which he then sells to raise money for poorly animals in Cornwall.

Alfie even has his own website to showcase and sell his work on.

His mum Tilly has revealed he has had offers from as far away as Germany, Canada and Chicago.

Now Alfie and his dad have been to visit the RSPCA Cornwall branch, in St Columb Major, to donate the £100 made from artwork.

"Last week we met an incredibly talented young man called Alfie. Alfie is a keen artist and loves to paint.

"Alfie selflessly decided to sell some of his paintings and donate the money he earned towards the care of the animals at the centre. We were all so blown away by such a thoughtful gesture.

"As a thank you, Alfie and his Dad had a tour around the centre and met some of the animals who he would be helping with his donation.

"Thank you very much Alfie, keep doing the wonderful things you're doing."
